Ingredients
Serene Bath & Body understands that you have a choice in skin care and bath products. So we want to make the choice as easy for you as possible. We do this in part by using all natural and organic ingredients. You won't find things like parabens or formaldehyde preserving our lotions or lip balms. You won't find synthetic fragrance oils scenting our soaps or salt scrubs. Instead you will find plant based essential and carrier oils used in all of our products. We also strive to obtain our ingredients from companies who focus not only on the protection and sustainability of our planet but also on the respect and care for the people who cultivate the ingredients.
Aloe Vera Juice - Organic
Aloe vera juice is an outstanding ingredient in skin care products because of its ability to work as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and its ability to aid in skin restoration. Aloe soothes and helps repair skin that has been damaged or that is suffering from a skin condition like eczema. Found in our All Natural Lotions and Organic Lotions.
Beeswax & Honey - Organic
Organic beeswax and honey are natural secretions of honey bees that feed from organic botanicals and are treated in accordance with organic regulations. Practically insoluble in water, it forms a protective barrier between your skin and the environment. Beeswax contains natural SPF. Both beeswax and honey provide excellent protection to skin. Found in our All Natural Lip Balm and our Organic Milk & Honey Bar Soap.
Botanicals - Organic
We use a number of organic botanicals and herbs in our products. We add these because of their various properties and their ability to enhance the effectiveness of our already superb products. Some of our favorites are lavender buds, rosemary leaves, sage leaves, and ground cloves. They are found in a number of our All Natural Bar Soaps and Organic Bar Soaps.
Citric Acid
Citric Acid comes from the fermentation of crude fruit sugars and is chiefly used to help extend a products shelf life. Found in our All Natural Lotion and Organic Lotion.
Coconut Oil - Organic & All Natural
Coconut oil is a great oil for general moisturizing and serves as a protective layer, helping to retain the moisture in your skin. This oil is the number one lather-producing oil used in soaps. Found in our Organic Bar Soaps, All Natural Bar Soaps, Organic Liquid Foaming Soaps and All Natural Liquid Foaming Soap.
Dead Sea Salt
The salts we use are 100% pure Dead Sea mineral salts and are unrefined. Their extraordinary chemical composition has made the Dead Sea an ideal spot for people seeking relief from skin disorders. These soothing miracle-working waters have a reputation that dates back over 2000 years when the Roman historian Flavius noted ... "The Dead Sea cannot be praised too highly ... travelers take this salt home because it heals the human body and is therefore used in many medicines." It is found in our All Natural Dead Sea Salt Scrubs.
Essential Oils - Organic & All Natural
An essential oil is a liquid that is distilled from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from. We use only all natural or organic essential oils that are 100% pure steam distilled, free of carriers, diluents and other inputs. Not to be confused with fragrance oils or perfumes, essential oils are derived from the true plants. Perfume oils are artificially created fragrances, containing synthetic substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer. Found in almost all of our products (except our unscented products).
Extra-Virgin Olive Oil - Organic & All Natural
Likely the most universally used oil in soap making because of its ability to create not only a superior conditioning bar but also because of the wonderful lather it creates. Olive Oil prevents the loss of your skin's natural moisture, softens skin and attracts external moisture to your skin. It helps keeps your skin soft, supple and younger looking. Found in our Organic Bar Soaps and All Natural Bar Soaps.
Goat's Milk - Organic
Goat's Milk has been a primary component of skin care for thousands of years. It has been said that Cleopatra bathed in goat's milk to preserve her beauty. Goat's milk contains vitamins A and B and with its natural emollients, can relieve dryness and restore a silky softness to the skin. Found in our All Natural Milk & Honey Bar Soap.
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a citrus seed based anti-microbial used as a natural preservative in skin care products. GSE is made with the extracts of citrus seeds and pulp. It is blended with vegetable glycerin to make it non-irritating to the skin. Found in our All Natural Lotion and Organic Lotion.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba "oil" is different from other vegetable oils in that it is not actually an oil but a liquid wax. Its unique chemical makeup mimics the sebum naturally present on human skin. Jojoba doesn't break down when exposed to water or oxygen and, being a natural carrier of Vitamin E and a natural antioxidant, it is an extremely efficient non-comedogenic moisturizer. Lecithin- Organic
Lecithin is a waxy like ingredient derived from soybeans. It acts as an emulsifier and thickening agent for both food and cosmetic products and improves a products shelf life by acting as a mild preservative. Found in our All Natural Lotion and Organic Lotion.
Macadamia Nut Oil - Organic
This remarkable oil comes from the pressed nuts of the Macadamia tree. It is a delight for the skin and has proven itself to be one of the best regenerative oils available. This oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids. Macadamia oil is a protective oil with a high absorption rate and has been successfully used as a healing oil for scars, sunburns, minor wounds and other irritations. Found in our Organic Lotions.
Neem Oil
For thousands of years Ayurvedic medicine has used neem oil for skin care and to treat skin disorders. This is a magnificent oil with numerous benefits for both therapeutic and medicinal use. This oil is anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. Found in our All Natural Dead Sea Salt Scrubs.
Oatmeal - Organic
Oatmeal's skin-soothing powers were known as early as 2000 BC, and to this day, the FDA cites it as effective for relieving dryness and inflammation, including insect stings, rashes, and eczema. Our colloidal oatmeal also acts as a very gentle exfoliant. Found in our Organic Bar Soaps.
Palm Oil- Organic & All Natural
Palm Oil contains high concentrations of Vitamin E and anti-oxidants and helps to produce a hard and long-lasting bar of soap. Found in our Organic Bar Soaps and All Natural Bar Soaps.
Pomegranate Seed Oil - Organic
A luxurious oil from the cold pressed organic seeds of the pomegranate fruit. This amazing oil which is naturally high poplyphenols and punicic acid is remarkable for the skin. A recent study from the University of Michigan Medical School concluded that pomegranate seed oil was shown to stimulate keratinocyte proliferation- in other words it was shown to promote the regeneration of skin cells. This oil can be effective in treating dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis. Found in our Organic Bar Soaps and All Natural Lip Balm.
Rosemary Oil Extract - Organic
Rosemary oil extract (ROE) acts as an antioxidant that extends the shelf life of food and personal care products. When oils are exposed to air they tend to oxidize and can become rancid. Instead of using chemical preservatives that have known health concerns, like parabens and other synthetic chemicals, we use ROE. The ROE we use is certified organic and contains healthy quantities of rosmarinic acid, which is essential for stabilizing shelf life. Found in our All Natural Lotion and Organic Lotion.
Sodium/Potassium Hydroxide (lye)
You can't make soap without lye. It's as simple as that. True soap is made when one combines the proper proportions of oils and lye (plus water). Saponification is the chemical reaction that takes place when you mix the oils and lye together. During the saponification process all of the lye that has been used in the formulation reacts and is no longer present. So NO lye is present in the final product. Lye earned a bad reputation "back in the day" when soap makers did not measure their oils and lye accurately and left un-reacted lye in the finished product. Unfortunately this created a harsh bar of soap with a dangerously high pH that would burn and irritate skin.
Vitamin E - Organic
Natural Vitamin E oil acts as an antioxidant and is great for preventing rancidity in personal care products. Found in our All Natural Lotion, Organic Lotion, All Natural Lip Balm, and All Natural Dead Sea Salt Scrubs.
Wheat Germ Oil
This ultra rich, unrefined Wheat Germ oil is a source high in Vitamins E, A, D, proteins, and lecithin.. Wheat germ has been applied externally for numerous irritations including roughness of the skin, cracking, and chaffing. Found in our All Natural Lotion and Organic Lotion.
